Kevin Dale McKeown has provided marketing, media relations and strategic development services to the Vancouver cultural community since 1989. Among numerous other projects and clients, he served as media relations manager to the Alcan Dragon Boat Festival (1989 – 1998), the Vancouver International Writers Festival (1990 – 1999), and the Vancouver International Children’s Festival (1995 – 1998).
Kevin has been the marketing and development manager for the Vancouver Folk Music Festival since 1997 and has served Royal City Musical Theatre in the same capacity since 2004, overseeing all aspects of those organizations’ marketing and sponsorship development work.
Prior to his second career in arts marketing, through the 1970s and 1980s Kevin was a journalist and editor whose credits included several years freelancing as a theatre critic and arts columnist for the Georgia Straight and other local publications. He was the founding editor of Vancouver’s West Ender weekly and served as editor of the Williams Lake Tribune (1977 – 1980) and Montreal Magazine (1984 – 1987). Kevin won a Western Magazine Award in 1989 for a cover feature in Vancouver Magazine marking the 100th anniversary of Stanley Park and a National Newspaper Award in 1979 for special edition editing.
