Auditions in September 2015

In September we audition for our next mainstage, The Lost Operas of Mozart. We also hear singers who wish to be considered for the many concerts we perform throughout the year.

Auditions and callbacks will be held at Tom Lee Music Hall, Third Floor, 929 Granville Street, Vancouver:

AUDITION: SATURDAY 19 September 2015, 10am to 5pm

AUDITION: SUNDAY 20 September 2015, 10am to 5pm

CALLBACK: MONDAY 21 September 2015, 7pm to 10pm

** For Lost Operas, we will ask every singer to prepare two works by Mozart, one each in Italian and German. You will also be asked to read a short passage in German. Its text is below, and need not be spoken from memory.

Noch nie habe ich so gut geschlafen, und noch nie hat mir angenehmer geträumt. Ach! Bin ich noch hier, an diesem verhaßten Orte? Wie grausam hat mich mein Traum betrogen! Ich wähnte mich in Freiheit, ein schönes Kind, eine Europäerin, war meine Gefährtin, ich sah mich in der Heimat, im Lande meines Vaters – aber, o Himmel, noch finde ich mich in meinen Fesseln!

City Opera provides a professional pianist, at no charge; however, if you prefer to bring your own you are most welcome to do so. We are not able to cover the cost of an independent accompanist.

** Those who wish to be heard for concert engagements only are asked to prepare two works, one in Italian and the other in a second language of one's choosing.
