Idan Cohen is an opera stage director and choreographer, and the Artistic Director of Ne.Sans Opera and Dance, based in Vancouver, Canada. Originally trained as a classical pianist, Cohen received a scholarship to study theatre and fine arts at the “Art Colony” in Israel’s Negev desert, graduating with distinction. At age 20, he joined the renowned Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (founded by Yehudit Arnon, under the artistic direction of Rami Beer), where he performed for seven seasons before launching his independent career. Since 2005, Cohen has created, performed, and taught internationally to wide acclaim, earning numerous awards and distinctions. His work bridges opera and contemporary dance, bringing fresh perspectives and innovation to classical works. Cohen holds both a BA (2015) and MFA (2017) in Choreography from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.  Since 2017, he has led Ne.Sans Opera and Dance, a Vancouver-based company dedicated to bold, interdisciplinary creations that fuse opera and contemporary dance.
