Join us on Opening Day at FINDING CHINATOWN, a special event free to all.

Tuesday 13 September, 1-4pm, CNL Auditorium, 537 Main Street, between Pender and Keefer.

FINDING CHINATOWN is a conversation among friends. A navigational aid. A look at the real history of Chinatown, our neighbourhood. The spoken story we all need to hear.

FINDING CHINATOWN it is a factual and humanly charged look at our past, present, and future, dealing plainly with racism and violence, while bending toward our shared humanity and hopes.

We have four special guests, each expert in a special field:

  • Shirley Chan, talking about the early history of SPOTA and the freeway 
  • Sid Chow Tan, the Head Taxes
  • Hayne Wai, shared experiences in the neighbourhood
  • Paul Yee, discussing the fact and meaning of Hoisanese in the neighbourhood
