City Opera at Holt Renfrew

We’ve been asked by the Italian Trade Commission and Holt Renfrew to appear at Opening Night of their 19-day Italian Immersion Festival. It’s a benefit for Re-Think Breast Cancer.

Mozart in The Heart Of The City Festival

City Opera has produced 24 concerts, recitals and workshops in the DTES. On Friday 7 November at 7pm, at the Carnegie Centre, we present another.

The Mozart Miracle offers soprano Bahareh Poureslami and pianist David Boothroyd, abetted by DVDs and CDs, in a joyful exploration of the life and music of Mozart. Free to all.

Stickboy / World Premiere

This new commission from Vancouver Opera opens on 23 October at the Playhouse.

With music by Neil Weisensel, and libretto by Shane Koyczan, STICKBOY “confronts the uncomfortable reality of a society struggling with its own fear and insecurity, a society that seeks conformity and uniformity at the expense of those who are different.”

City Opera is happy to note that the cast includes several artists who have sung for us: tenor Sunny Shams, in the lead role as The Boy; baritone Willy Miles-Grenzberg, in several roles; and soprano Melanie Kreuger, tenor Kwangmin Brian Lee, and baritone Peter Alexander, together in the Ensemble.
