  • Perri Lo, piano

The HAFU ハーフ Project is an autobiographical exploration of identity, remembrance and connection to culture. Chapter I Paueru-Gai パウエル街, honours the tragedies of WWII in Vancouver’s original Japanese settlement. Chapter II 幼年, discusses the complexities of operating as a multiracial person and raising a family. Chapter III 希望, explores dreams for the future, represented by an origami crane – a symbol of healing and hope. The HAFU ハーフ Project showcases the Japanese language and the common experience of coming to terms with understanding intersecting identities.
