Salam-Shalom: Echoes of Home

Join us for a powerful and moving musical program, Salam-Shalom: Echoes of Home, dedicated to fostering dialogue, healing, and community. This concert unites Arab and Jewish stories in a profound exploration of intertwined histories and shared human experiences.

Featuring two of Canada’s most celebrated artists, soprano Jaclyn Grossman and two-time Juno nominee soprano Miriam Khalil, with piano accompaniment by City Opera Vancouver’s Artistic Director, Gordon Gerrard, and artistic support by Idan Cohen of Ne.Sans Opera & Dance.

“Over the past two years, our conversations about our communities’ experiences have offered us a source of hope, even in moments of hopelessness. What has sustained us is a shared desire to do something meaningful: to foster empathy, healing, and understanding between our communities. Creating a concert that weaves together Arab and Jewish music, languages, and stories has been a profound source of strength and connection. Our histories, faiths, and struggles are deeply intertwined, and while each of us carries our own pain, we believe we are stronger when we come together in support of one another. Salam-Shalom: Echoes of Home is our way of offering healing, peace, and connection through music and text. We hope this recital inspires others to join us in building bridges of respect, empathy, kindness, and mutual support, here in Canada, and beyond.

–Jaclyn Grossman & Miriam Khalil

The performance will be followed by a Q&A/talkback session with the artists and hosted by Marsha Lederman, offering an opportunity for further dialogue.
